About
Who we are and how we work
About the Group
An interdisciplinary research group advancing the theory, methods, and applications of social network science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Our Mission
The Social Networks Group – UC brings together researchers from the social sciences, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, and related fields to study complex relational systems. We advance social network science through theoretical development, statistical and computational innovation, and substantive research — with particular strengths in education, governance, the science of science, and organizations.
We are committed to methodological rigor, reproducible research, and the development of open-source tools that make network science more accessible, including the R package netmem.

How We Work
Social Networks – UC is a collaborative space for researchers working from a network perspective. We meet every other week at the San Joaquín Campus of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile to discuss the theoretical and methodological challenges of ongoing research, and to support the development of each member’s work.
Our members span faculty, doctoral and master’s students, postdoctoral researchers, and international visitors and associates. If you are interested in joining our meetings or pursuing graduate research with us, see Prospective Students.
Our Alliance
CHISOCNET — The Chilean Society for Social Network Science
The Social Networks Group – UC is an active partner of CHISOCNET, which aims to develop social network science in Chile into an internationally recognized field of reference for Ibero-America — through conferences, seminars, and a summer school.
